During their expedition, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark faced numerous obstacles as they worked toward their goal of charting Americas newly gained territory. In 1803, President Jefferson purchased a large measuring of reach from Napoleon, in what is know as The Louisiana Purchase. This land n earliest doubled the size of America. Lewis and Clark are the most famous of the explorers who set out into this unknown land in early 1804.
Lewis and Clarks expedition was not an easy one. E reallything they faced was a struggle. On their adventure, Lewis and Clark encountered new species of animals, faced natives who were hostile to white men, were undefendable to disease, had troubles with the weather, and suffered from lack of supplies. This was all on top of having to navigate through, and document, whole unknown territory. One use of this is when Clark recorded in the ledger that it rained for four days. This was an obstacle because the rain caused the rivers to flood, they slept outdoors, and generally made locomotion more difficult. As Lewis wrote, animals were a danger.the bear pursued them and had very nearly overtaken them before they reached the river(May 14, 1805). The only way the bear halt was when it was shot.

One can only imagine that they went through this caseful of scenario often because they were in the wilderness. That being said, not all cancel encounters were negative. As for diseases, some of the men contracted small pox, entirely luckily most of them recovered.
